Australia’s first national Paid Parental Leave scheme has been introduced as of the 1st of January 2011.
This new scheme funded by the Australian Government, entitles Working Parents.
Working parents of children born or adopted on or after the 1st of January 2011 are eligible for this paid Leave.
Eligible working parents may receive 18 weeks pay at the National Minimum Wage. This current rate subsists of $570 a week before tax, funded by the government to assist the care for a new baby.
